How are we achieving Climate-Friendly Lighting Design? Many of our suppliers are based in the UK and selected by us for standards of quality and product warranty, so our clients can ‘Buy Better & Buy Once.’ Working with UK makers helps to reduce delivery miles for products and we have also adopted circular economy principles of reuse, repair, replace; reducing waste and conserving resources while contributing to environmental sustainability.
The circular economy aims to minimise waste and maximise the lifespan and utility of products by keeping materials and resources in use for as long as possible through strategies like recycling, refurbishing, remanufacturing, and reusing. In the context of lighting, we support the circular economy in several ways:
Design for Durability & Disassembly

We aim to select lighting products designed and manufactured to make it easier to repair and upgrade components rather than replacing entire fixtures. We give preference to modular designs that allow for the replacement of individual parts, extending the lifespan of the product.
Controls & Automation

As well as reducing energy consumption and increasing efficiency, intelligent controls enable light to be produced when, where and in the amount and time required, minimising unnecessary light spill and pollution.
Reuse & Refurbishment

Lighting fixtures that are no longer needed in one location can be repurposed for another location. This not only extends the lifespan of the product but also reduces the demand for new materials and resources.
Material Recovery & Recycling

At the end of their useful life, lighting products can be disassembled, and their components and materials can be recovered and recycled. This includes metals, glass, plastics, and electronic components. Recycling these materials reduces the need for new resources and minimises environmental impact.
Take-Back Programs

Some lighting manufacturers we work with will accept returns of their old lighting fixtures from customers for refurbishment, recycling, or proper disposal. These programs help ensure that products are properly managed at the end of their life cycle, preventing them from ending up in landfills.
Collaboration across the lighting value chain, including manufacturers, designers, suppliers, and customers, is essential for implementing circular economy principles in lighting. Our aim is to encourage the exchange of knowledge and best practices to increase the availability and use of climate-friendly lighting solutions.
